How we are supporting Safer Internet Day 2017
We have long been supporters of the annual Safer Internet Day (SID) event and 2017 will be no different.
Taking place on Tuesday 07 February, this year's theme is 'Be the change: unite for a better internet'. Schools, businesses and individuals from across the world are joining together to make the internet a safer and better place for all, and especially children and young people. Now that's a campaign we can all get behind, isn't it?
SID is coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre. Throughout the day on 07 February, hundreds of companies will help to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. And we're proud to say that we're one of them!
If you are a parent, carer or teacher, SID is a great opportunity to talk to the young people in your life about their use of the internet. Our online safety book, 'Virtually Me - Your manifesto for online life' is an important tool for getting young people to better understand what they should – or should not – be sharing online and realise who is potentially seeing that information.
The activity book is aimed at 10 - 14 year olds and allows them to work through it in their own time, setting their preferred pace. Eventually, they will have created their own personal guide to getting the best out of the internet – and doing so safely.
