Supporting Safer Internet Day 2018
Safer Internet Day is an annual event that promotes the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
Safer Internet Day 2018 will be celebrated across the world on Tuesday 6th February 2018 with the slogan 'Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you'.
Coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved. In recent years, we’ve support the cause, because we care about the online safety of young people.
The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. We’ve always found Safer Internet Day to be a perfect opportunity to talk to young people about their use of the internet.
Our online safety book, 'Virtually Me - Your manifesto for online life' is an important tool for getting young people to better understand what they should – or should not – be sharing online and realise who is potentially seeing that information.
The activity book is aimed at 10-14 year olds and allows them to work through it in their own time, setting their preferred pace. Eventually, they will have created their own personal guide to getting the best out of the internet – and doing so safely.
