Supporting Safer Internet Day 2019
Safer Internet Day 2019 will be celebrated across the world on Tuesday 5th February 2019 with the theme 'Together for a better internet'.
Coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved. We've supported the event since 2016, because we care about the online safety of young people.
The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. We’ve always found Safer Internet Day to be a perfect opportunity to talk to young people about their use of the internet.
Our online safety book, 'Virtually Me - Your manifesto for online life' is an important tool for getting young people to better understand what they should – or should not – be sharing online and realise who is potentially seeing that information.
The activity book is aimed at 10-14 year olds and allows them to work through it in their own time, setting their preferred pace. Eventually, they will have created their own personal guide to getting the best out of the internet – and doing so safely.
